VW 7-speed dual-clutch transmission DSG (0GC, DQ381)

VW's 7-speed DSG transmission (0GC, DQ381) is an electronically controlled dual-clutch transmission that has gradually replaced its more than successful 6-speed predecessor DQ250 in new models since 2016.

Improvements of the predecessor DQ250

The comfort, efficiency and dynamics have been further optimised compared to the predecessor, so that now far more than 50% of the Group’s newly registered vehicles are delivered with dual clutch transmission. In addition, the change interval has been extended from 60,000 km for the predecessor to 120,000 km and 5 years for the successor DQ381. VAICO offers the appropriate oil change and flushing kits.

Problems with the dual clutch transmission DQ381

However, the DQ381 has a weak point: Oil loss occurs from time to time in the area of the oil pump. Due to malfunctions of the pump, the following error codes are stored in the memory, while the gearbox then often switches to emergency operation:

Symptom
The unit switches to emergency operation
Oil leakage from the gearbox
Error codes: P0C29, P175E, P176E, P176F, P1899
Cause

Faulty electro-hydraulic pump of gearbox V475

These faults can be easily remedied by replacing the oil pump and clearing the fault memory. In addition, the pump change should generally be combined with an oil change on the transmission. VAICO also offers the appropriate EXPERT KIT+ for this purpose:
