Oil-changing made easy with the oil-filling device for automatic transmissions

The best transmission oil is eventually “exhausted” in terms of performance. The result: there is increased material wear inside the gearbox. Even so-called “Lifetime Oils“ are not exempt from this problem.

In order to prevent damage to the transmission and its control unit, we advise changing gearbox oil and replacing the filter set at regular intervals. Depending on the vehicle, this is within a period of five to six years or 60,000 to 100,000 kilometres mileage. By changing the oil, cleaning or rinsing the control unit and replacing the hydraulic filter, the performance of the transmission can be significantly improved: Gear changing is noticeably quieter, faster and smoother. The automatic transmission oil filling device can be used on a wide range of vehicle-manufacturers thanks to the range of accessories such as the adapter-set. VAICO offers both a 8-piece adapter set and a 14-piece adapter set for vehicles from FORD, VW/AUDI, VOLVO, TOYOTA, SKODA or MERCEDES.  The adapters are easily and quickly assembled with the nut and ferrule included in the set. The adapter is then connected to the valve of the oil filling device and is ready to use.

1. Assembling the oil filler.

2. Open the filling cap of the barrel. Pour the oil in the barrel – the tank’s capacity is 7.5 l.

3. Find the suitable adaptor from the selection and connect it to the vehicle.

4. Connect the adapter to the hose.

5. Push-pull the handle to begin the operation.

Some transmissions need to return excess oil back to the filling unit. In this case, open the return line valve on the side of the pump assembly. The adapter enables the oil to flow back into the barrel.

Follow the manufacturer‘s specifications

  1. Check the transmission oil temperature. If the temperature is 50 °C or above, let the oil cool down.
  2. Open the oil drain plug and pour the old gear oil into a suitable container (A).
  3. Remove the pipe with an 8 mm hex key (picture B).
  4. Let the residual oil drain, in the following screw overflow/filling pipe till stop (C).
  5. Assemble and tighten screw with 3 Nm.
  6. Connect the matching filling adapter with the thread of drain pipe (D).
  7. Fill the transmission oil in the container (E).
  8. Connect the hose with filling adapter and tighten the clamping screw (F).
  9. Close the outlet valve and slightly “overfill“ the transmission with oil (G).
  10. Open the outlet valve, fill the excess oil with the second hose into a external container (H).
  11. Remove the adapter with tube connection and tighten oil drain plug.
  12. Start the engine, push brake pedal, gear selector in every position each about 3 sec. and then again put in position „P“.
  13. Let the engine run.
  14. Transmission oil temperature should be about 45 degrees (no higher). Check transmission oil level again, fill up if necessary.
