VEMO explains: What is (cooled) exhaust gas recirculation?

Emission regulations are getting stricter and stricter and require from vehicles with combustion engine an better reduction of emissions. An exhaust gas recirculation system works exactly in this purpose. VEMO offers a wide range of more than 280 EGR valves and complete EGR modules. New products are constantly added to the range.

What is exhaust gas recirculation?

Because the exhaust gas components which recirculated through the intake duct cannot be used for the combustion, the combustion temperature is reduced. As a result, significantly less harmful nitrogen oxides are produced during the combustion, and the environmental impact is reduced.

What is cooled exhaust gas recirculation?

The emission of nitrogen oxides can be further reduced by cooling the exhaust gases which are returned to the combustion chamber. Exhaust gas recirculation valves with cooler are for this purpose used in diesel engines.
