PDC sensors from the quality brand VEMO

Parking made easy: With over 180 sensors and suitable mounts, the VEMO quality brand offers high-quality replacement parts for around 12,000 vehicle applications.

n electronic parking aid is now provided by practically all vehicle manufacturers, and is already fitted as standard in many model variants. All-round visibility often suffers from modern vehicle manufacturer design concepts, which makes electronic aids almost indispensable. To satisfy the ever increasing requirements, we offer a large spectrum of sensors for parking aids, and useful accessories for the independent aftermarket under our VEMO quality brand.

The PDC sensors of the VEMO quality brand are made from stable plastic housing with an integrated plug connection, an ultrasonic transducer, and a printed circuit board with transmitter and evaluation units. The vehicle-specific plug enables its use in a number of vehicle applications. High-quality sensors are protected by iSP film. Sensitive sensors are protected from electrostatic charges by this packaging bag.

The advantages at a glance:

✓ Rapid exchange thanks to the simple clip attachment of PDC sensors
✓ Considerable cost savings, because it is not necessary to completely change the bumper
✓ High market coverage for around 12,000 vehicle applications
✓ Suitable mounts for a number of sensors are also available
✓ Can be lacquered with an appropriate finish
✓ Infineon and Hewlett Packard (HP) chips

Maintenance and instructions:

DC sensors can be easily washed in carwashes. However, when using a high-pressure cleaner, a distance of approx. 50 centimetres should be maintained, and direct spraying with a high-pressure nozzle from a short distance should be avoided. In addition, do not use polish, wax, oil or similar cleaning agents – water is sufficient for cleaning. Do not apply pressure to the sensor during wiping!

Possible installation faults:

If the parking aid does not work, check the plug connection. It may be that the contact pins are not connected to the contact openings.

✗ No contact on one or more connections
✗ Defective sensor cable (e.g. due to wear)
✗ Too much lacquer on the sensors

Can PDC sensors be lacquered?

Yes, VEMO sensors can easily be lacquered so that they match the colour of the bumper. The risk in identifying obstructions caused by lacquering can be avoided if the specialist observes the following:

  1. Remove the seal or washer, if applicable.
  2. Treat the surface with 800 bit sandpaper or with a suitable non-woven abrasive.
  3. The sensor should then be treated with 2000 bit sandpaper.
  4. Thoroughly clean/grease the surface.
  5. Ensure that there is no dust or moisture on the surface of the sensor!
  6. Mask the parts of the sensor which should not be lacquered. Use a template if necessary.
  7. Now you can coat the sensors with lacquer/clear varnish in accordance with the manufacturer instructions. Leave to dry in a clean, dust-free place. The coating should have a maximum thickness of between 0.1 and 0.15 mm.
  8. Perform a function check to ensure that the sensors can detect obstructions.
